Happy weekend! Here’s one more flashback to another date night in Philly, this one just before we moved. I’d been dying to get to Talula’s Garden, and it was the perfect spot for a mid-summer night out. We went for the ambiance (how romantic is that garden?!), but we stayed for the food!
We are total suckers for a good cheese plate, and Talula’s extensive cheese menu was admittedly what drew us to the restaurant. We ordered the Summer Road Trip, a board with six American cheeses, and we were not disappointed!
This focaccia was unassuming, but after just one bite it quickly rose towards the top of my list of yummiest things I’ve ever eaten. Made with fennel jam, whipped ricotta, blistered grapes (my favorite part), and truffle honey, the focaccia’s flavors were so unexpected and it’s texture was so perfect that the result was absolutely delicious!
I ordered the smoked corn ravioli. Yes, I can be predictable. The ravioli was full of smoked sweet corn, summer squash, zucchini, and feta and was SO GOOD.
A ordered the lamb belly served with a bulgar salad, and his eyes lit up when it came to the table.
For dessert we shared a bowl of honey and thyme ice cream (another unexpected yet excellent flavor combination) served with brown butter madeleines.
Even with some of the focaccia and each of our entrees packed up in doggy bags we were stuffed and wandered into nearby Washington Square Park to walk off our meal before heading home. If you’re looking for a late summer date night in Philly I highly recommend a night out at Talula’s Garden.
