With A studying for the bar and our impending move to Pittsburgh, we decided to postone our honeymoon rather than travel right after our wedding in June. It was initially a disappointing decision to have to make, but we knew that we wanted to be able to relax and enjoy our honeymoon and not feel rushed and distracted by everything going on back at home. Now I’m so glad that we postponed our honeymoon! We got to spend the days after our wedding nesting at home, and we still have something big to look forward to.
Now that we’re settled into our new home, I’ve started working again, and A passed the bar, it was time to plan our trip. And last week we booked our honeymoon! Here’s a look at some of the destinations we daydreamed about. Keep reading to find out where we’re headed next Spring!
A trip to the Greek islands is very appealing! I’m especially drawn to the beautiful colors in Santorini!
We talked about traveling to Italy for a long time. I’ve been there once (I visited Rome and Florence), but A has never been, and collectively there are SO many places that we want to see when we go together. As much as I’m dying to go back, we decided that – as romantic as a trip to Italy will be someday – we’d rather spend our honeymoon relaxing on a beach than hopping from city to city trying to see all that Italy has to offer in a relatively short span of time.
So we began to look at tropical destinations. This resort in Cabo San Lucas was particularly eye catching!
We considered traveling to Costa Rica. We know a few couples who’ve honeymooned there recently, and they’ve all raved about their trips!
Then we started researching St. Lucia, and we were immediately sold! The beautiful beaches, the volcanoes, the sunsets…how could we resist?! The answer is we couldn’t, so we booked it! We’ll be spending the first part of our trip at a resort up in the mountains near Soufrière, with incredible views of the Pitons. Then we’ll travel to the north end of the island to spend the remainder of our trip at a resort right on the beach. The views from both vantage points were breathtaking, and I simply couldn’t decide where to stay, so we opted for the best of both worlds!
