To all of my friends in the US, I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! I enjoyed my first untraditional Thanksgiving, which was spent exploring Puerto Rico with my family and eating mofongo rather than turkey and pie. It was an absolutely incredible vacation, and I’ll be sharing details and photos from the trip soon (you can see this sneak peek on my Instagram in the meantime!). Now we’re back home in Pittsburgh and gearing up for Christmas!
Speaking of Christmas, what cocktails are you most excited for this holiday season?
A has become quite the bartender, and this fall we’ve been enjoying our share of Moscow Mules. Haven’t tried one yet? They’re refreshing and light, with a delicious kick of ginger, and they’ve become one of my favorite cocktails!
Since it’s now gingerbread season, I thought it would be fun to add some other spices to my Moscow Mule to complement the ginger in the ginger beer. The addition of ground cinnamon and cloves adds a subtle spiced flavor, and the added festive garnishes make this slight variation on the traditional Moscow Mule perfect for any holiday party – or a night at home in front of the fire eating Christmas cookies!
Holiday Moscow Mules

4.5 oz. ginger beer
.75 oz. fresh lime juice
tiny sprinkling of ground cinnamon and ground cloves
lots of ice cubes
lime wedge, for garnish
fresh cranberries, for garnish
cinnamon stick, for garnish
Add the vodka, ginger beer, lime juice, and sprinkling of spices to a mug or glass and stir. Fill the mug with ice cubes. Garnish with a lime wedge, cranberries, and a cinnamon stick.
