Can you believe that 2016 is just two days away?! Whether your New Year’s Eve plans involve a sparkly dress and big soiree or pajama pants and watching the ball drop from the comfort of your couch, a bottle of bubbly will help to make the celebration special.
If you’re looking for a classic cocktail to ring in the New Year or you’re interested in something a bit funkier, here are two simple and delicious ways to enjoy a bottle of champagne this New Year’s Eve.
Classic: French 75
You’ll need (for 2 cocktails):
1 -2 lemons (peel and juice)
2 shots of gin
1 shot simple syrup
Using a paring knife, cut the peel from a lemon into a long strip. Slice the strip in half lengthwise and trim the edges of each piece into a straight line. Twist both strips around your finger to curl. Squeeze the juice from the remaining lemon.
In a cocktail shaker, mix gin, simple syrup, 1 shot lemon juice, and ice. Divide gin mixture among two champagne flutes and top with champagne. Garnish with the lemon peel and enjoy!
Funky: Champagne + Rock Candy
Rock candy sticks
Fill glasses with champagne and add rock candy. It’s really that simple. The rock candy will dissolve a bit in the glass, making the champagne slightly sweeter. The champagne also adds a delicious flavor to the rock candy, so be sure to enjoy the candy when the champagne is gone!
