This easy Jalapeño Popper Dip recipe is full of spicy, cheesy flavor and makes the perfect appetizer for any party or tailgate!
The first time I ever saw a deep friend jalapeño popper I was in my twenties, and I was floored.
My mom, who makes the world’s best jalapeño poppers with peppers from her own garden (#goals), bakes them, and so I had no idea that they’re typically deep fried. The recipe actually came from a neighbor, so any time anyone brought poppers to a neighborhood gathering (which was often), they used this recipe. And, to be honest, I have no idea why you would ever deep fry them when the baked version is a million times crunchier and more delicious!
To make jalapeño poppers, my mom slices jalapeños lengthwise, stuffs them with a delicious cheese mixture, tops them with crumbled tortilla chips and bakes them. It’s the stuff of legend.
My mom then had the ridiculously genius idea to turn this recipe into a dip. She sliced up the jalapeños and put them IN the delicious cheese mixture, and we scooped up the dip with the tortilla chips.
And while I really can’t take any of the credit for the recipe, it’s just too good not to share! At least I taste tested it, right?
Jalapeño Popper Dip
2 garlic cloves, minced
16 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup mayonnaise
4 jalapeños, seeds removed and finely chopped
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until thoroughly combined. Serve with tortilla chips.
For best flavor, make the dip one day ahead and store in the refrigerator. Remove the dip from the fridge a few minutes before serving to allow it to soften. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to 4 days.
