Isn't December just the coziest month? Before freezing temperatures and snow storms bear down on us - reminding me why I don't like winter all that much - I like to enjoy a few weeks of holiday cheer and snuggling up on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate! Here's a recipe for rich and chocolatey homemade hot chocolate. And P.S. - it makes a great holiday gift when packed in a jar with marshmallows!
Rich & Chocolatey Homemade Hot Chocolate
3 oz. semisweet baking chocolate, chopped into small bits
½ cup cocoa powder
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp. fine sea salt
¼ tsp. vanilla extract
Stir all ingredients together in a bowl until thoroughly mixed. You'll have enough mix for about 10 cups of hot chocolate. Heat 8 oz. of milk (I like to use almond milk) in a saucepan on the stove until it's hot but not boiling. Add 2 generous tablespoons of hot chocolate mix and stir. Pour the drink into a mug, top with marshmallows, and enjoy!
