My love for s'mores runs deep! There's just something so perfect about the pairing of graham crackers, toasty marshmallows, and a milk chocolate bar. The flavor combination will always remind me of laid-back summer nights, and it truly doesn't feel like summer until I've eaten a s'more.

And while I am always up to enjoy a classic s'more, sometimes it's fun to spice things up and add creative s'mores toppings! Swapping out a milk chocolate bar and vanilla marshmallow for a different type of chocolate bar or a flavored marshmallow is an easy way to upgrade your s'more. But don't stop there! Spreads (from peanut butter to caramel to fruit jam), fresh fruit, and other toppings (like pretzels or nuts) can really kick your s'more up a notch. My only rule: any s'more must always include some form of graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate!

    How to Make S'mores Indoors

If you don't have access to an outdoor fire pit, you can absolutely still enjoy a summer s'more! There are several ways you can make a s'more indoors, but not all will give you the best results. Microwaving a marshmallow, for example, will give you an over-puffed marshmallow without any of that delicious toasty flavor. And trying to heat the marshmallow on a tray in the oven will cause it to puff up and then deflate, so you'll miss out on the light and airy texture. The best way to make a s'more indoors? Use a toaster oven! Set the toaster oven to bake at 350°F, skewer your marshmallows (a long skewer is ideal so you don't toast your fingers), and, with the toaster oven door open, hold the skewered marshmallows close to (but not touching!) the toaster's heat coils. Slowly rotate the skewer to toast your marshmallow on all sides, and you'll end up with a lightly-puffed, golden brown marshmallow that's perfect for s'mores!
