Strawberry Meringue Roses

It takes just 30 minutes of active time to make these impressive yet simple meringue cookies from scratch using natural flavor and color.

Freeze-dried strawberries Sugar Egg white Salt Cream of tartar Vanilla extract Sugar pearl sprinkles

Ingredients

Blend freeze-dried strawberries into a fine powder.

Step 1

Combine strawberry powder and sugar.

Step 2

Mix egg white, salt, and cream of tartar until frothy.

Step 3

Beat on high speed until mixture is no longer translucent and has doubled in volume.

Step 4

Continue mixing while gradually adding sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form.

Step 5

Add vanilla and beat just until combined.

Step 6

Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.

Step 7

Pipe the meringue to form roses.

Step 8

Holding the bag upright, pipe a tight swirl, beginning in the center and circling outward.

Bake for 45 minutes at 225°F.

Step 9

Let the meringues sit in the oven for 1 hour after baking so they cool slowly.

Decorate the meringue roses with pearl sprinkles.
