Patio season is finally here! Let’s kick off our shoes and celebrate with a cool, refreshing mocktail!

This non-alcoholic blueberry mojito mocktail is everything I want in a summery drink. The fresh blueberries, muddled mint, and lime juice create a lightly sweet and super fruity blend. Packed with ice and topped with a splash of sparkling water, the drink is a little bit bubbly and 100% refreshing. It's a fun, fruity, and non-alcoholic take on a classic mojito.

Why This Recipe Works

To avoid a watered-down blueberry flavor, we'll create an easy-to-make simple syrup, combining sugar, water, and fresh blueberries. Adding this blueberry flavored simple syrup to the mocktail along with fresh blueberries, mint, and lime packs a flavorful punch!

Ingredient Notes & Substitutions

Recipe ingredients with labels on a white background.

Fresh Blueberries - Fresh blueberries are used to flavor the simple syrup and also included right in the drink for a big burst of blueberry flavor.

Fresh Mint Leaves - Mint is a must-have in a mojito, and muddled leaves provide the minty flavor.

Fresh Lime Juice - Fresh lime juice tastes best, so buy whole limes and juice them yourself.

See recipe card at the bottom of this post for full ingredient list and measurements.

Special Equipment

In addition to standard kitchen equipment (like a saucepan), I recommend some special tools for making this recipe.

  • A cocktail muddler, for muddling the fresh blueberries and mint. You can use the end of a wooden spoon or other similar kitchen tool if you don't have a cocktail muddler.
  • A strainer, for straining the blueberry simple syrup.

Step-By-Step Recipe Instructions

Unstrained blueberry simple syrup cooked in a small saucepan.

Step 1: Make the blueberry simple syrup. Combine sugar, water, and blueberries in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Use a muddler to crush the blueberries.

Step 2: Strain the syrup into a glass jar and let cool to room temperature.

Hand muddling mocktail ingredients in a glass.

Step 3: Make the mocktail. Add mint leaves and blueberries to a glass with lime juice and muddle.

Step 4: Add blueberry simple syrup.

Hand stirring mocktail ingredients in a glass.

Step 5: Fill glass with ice cubes. Top off with sparkling water and gently stir the drink.

Hand adding a mint sprig for garnish to the glass.

Step 6: Add lime wheel or wedge, mint sprig, and fresh blueberry garnish. Enjoy!

See recipe card at the bottom of this post for detailed recipe instructions.

Want to make a blueberry mojito cocktail instead? Added 1 to 2 ounces of white rum when you add the lime juice. You'll need a little bit less sparkling water to fill the glass.

Recipe Tips

When adding the sparkling water to the glass, be sure to leave a little bit of space to add garnishes.

Stir the drink very gently so that you don't lose too much of the carbonation.

Storage Instructions

Mojitos are best when enjoyed immediately. The blueberry syrup can be made ahead of time and stored in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to two weeks.

The mint and blueberry as told in this recipe make a perfect combination and a never-ending urge to drink more is a byproduct of this recipe. Thankfully, I came across this article and the recipe and it's so refreshing!
